Manuka Honey

February 22nd, 2010

The bees feeding on the manuka (Tea tree) bush that grows wild across New Zealand produce Manuka honey.  Recent studies have confirmed that all honey has antibacterial properties.  However manuka honey is different to most honey.

Manuka honey contains the Unique Manuka Factor (UMF) which represents the bacterial killing power unique to Manuka honey.  Manuka honey with a UMF rating is more stable than other honeys.  Its antibacterial properties are not broken down or rendered inactive when conditions change.

Some of the features of Manuka honey include its ability to clear infections rapidly, quickly reduce swelling, inflammation and pain and to stimulate tissue healing.

Manuka Honey is one of the ingredients in Calendulis Plus Cream.  Its antibacterial and healing features make it a valuable component of the emollient in the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
